What does success look like? Does it mean:
- You’re in top sets for all GCSE subjects?
- You achieve high marks for every test all the time?
- You breeze through every challenge without hassle?
The answer is no. This is unsustainable for most , if not all, of us.
Why? Because effective learning is a journey of many smaller steps – not huge leaps. Each smaller step offers learning choices as we discussed in our last popular blog post.
The truth is, real success can depend on what your goals are. Ready to explore how you too can achieve your dreams?
Keep Goals Simple
Realistic goals are easier to achieve than totally unreasonable ones.
So, to avoid overwhelm, make your goals more practical and manageable. Break them down into chunks:
- Practise fractions or create flashcards to memorise formulas
- Create a storyboard of the digestive system
- Study the role of Mrs Birling in, ‘An Inspector Calls.’
Whether you’re struggling with GCSE revision or trying to keep up with your class, by breaking tasks down, you can track progress and tick challenges off.
Ask for Help
Sometimes, you just can’t go it alone…
If you’ve learning difficulties due to SEND, problems at home, or you’re struggling with your mental health, who can you share your story with?
- Maybe a teacher you had in year 7, or your form tutor is fab? Either way, speaking up can halve the problem.
- It might be that you need extra time in exams due to issues you’ve always had? P
- Perhaps you’re Dyslexic or Autistic? You have options.
In fact, you have every right to ask for more support to ensure you’re on a level playing field as everyone else.
